Back to school
Tomorrow I go back to school. I had a wonderful week off. Well, it wasn’t much of a week off. I worked pretty much every day. But I didn’t really have to employ my brain much.
I had to use some patience at work, but not much brain power.
The weather this past week was wonderful. It was 80+ degrees most of the week. The only bad thing about that is that it melted the snow pack and now the rivers are all about to come over thier banks.
Being from Wyoming and having one little creek run through town doesn’t prepare you for the awesome power of a raging river.
Everyday I go down to the river and just look. I am amazed everytime I see that muddy water eating away at the banks and pulling down trees. It really is impressive.

Yesterday we joined the fluxuating “crowd” of people along the banks of the Gallatin River. Some people had been there for hours, writing in their journals, sketching, and just sitting silently, in awe of the river. There’s a huge boulder called “House Rock” which serves as a type of guage for the river. The waves are starting to crash over it, which only happens certain years. I was amazed how many people were stopping just to watch the river, it was a special moment.

The Creek here in Sheridan is up too - it amazes me that one day there is barely a trickle and then all of a sudden the water just gushes with tree limbs and such - I even remember one spring when there were critters floating along and they weren’t alive.
